PAUL Hindle, of Newton Abbot Athletics Club, took on the challenge of an Icosathlon, which is competing in two decathlons (10 events per day) in two days.
He travelled out to the USA Geneva Ohio and from the small number of competitors, he finished 4th overall and first Vet 40.
The events over the two days include all the throws: Shot, Discus, Hammer and Javelin plus the jumps, Long, Triple, High and Pole vault.
On top of that, there is a range of sprints: 100m, 200m, 400m, hurdles 110m, 200m and 400m, distance races: 800m, 1500m, 3K Steeple chase, 3000m flat, 5000m flat and to finish the final day, a 10000m which Paul ended the competition with taking first place in a time of 46m 15.26s.
Although very tired after completing the 20 events, he enjoyed the challenge and the camaraderie.
