ABBROOK Park Bowls Club’s last over 55s X league match at home against divisional leaders Starcross on July 24 saw them give a good account of themselves, winning 6-2.

Rink 1: G Wood, N Wilson and skip G Walling 16-18. Rink 2: G Harding, P Stanley and skip L Wheeler 19-12.

The following day, Abbrook’s A-Team entertained Torbay Country Club at home with games running out, needing a win to keep their hopes alive of staying in the Premiership.

Rink 1: R Milne, B Lawrence, J Coker and skip N Wilson 13-22. Rink 2: P Lannon, N Coombes, J Berry and skip R Horrell 23-12. Rink 3: P Irish, A Sanders, J Sharland and skip K Taylor 22-17. Rink 4: P Stanley, T Sandelance, A Wilkinson and skip T Archer 16-19.

This was a 74-70 win for which they earned 10 valuable league points.

Meanwhile, on that same day, the B-Team welcomed Dawlish Marina. Rink 1: G Smith, J Wood Bridge, W Wale and skip L Woodger 20-8. Rink 2: M Bailey, D Wyatt, J Preston and skip M Meathrel 26-13. Rink 3: L Wheeler, P Lannon, G Walling and skip J Yeoman 13-14. Rink 4: P Ritson, D Schooling, A Furner and skip T Drew 12-26. A 71-61 overall win and 10 league points to go with it.

Lastly, the Ladies SDL5 team finished their campaign in fine style with a 10-0 points victory over Paignton. They lead the table on 60 points but their closest rivals still have a game in hand.
