OVER the past five years, the Teignbridge Trotters have built up a great working relationship with Sibelco, who are now their main club sponsor.
As a result of the Trotters organising their Sibelco Templer Ten race, which took place in October, they were able to donate £500 to a local Kingsteignton-based food bank. Homeless In Teignbridge Support (HITS) provides support for people in need throughout Teignbridge.
Club Chairman, Roger Hayes presented Steve Clark with a cheque before one of their recent training nights. Steve (who is also a member of the Trotters) is a part-time volunteer for the charity and was delighted to receive it on behalf of HITS.
He said: “This money will go a long way to help those who are not just homeless but who are in crisis within our community. We help victims of domestic violence, ex-service personnel, the elderly, families in poverty, disabled people and many others.”
This cheque was one of many that the Newton Abbot-based running club have presented to charities throughout the year. Roger said: 'We have a long tradition of donating to charities, many of them local ones. It’s something as a club we are very proud of”.
The Sibelco Templer Ten was the last of their five races that they organise each year.
Attention now turns to their blue-ribbon event, the Dartmoor Discovery Ultra Marathon, which takes place next June. Entries are now open and the race is filling fast. If you wish to enter, you can do so via the Trotters website.
