NA CONDORS climbed up the first division table of the South Devon & Torbay Table Tennis League with an excellent 9-1 win at Halwell A. All three Condors’ players Curtis Sage, Terry Parkins, playing his first match in the league, and brother Bob won their singles encounters, Halwell prevented the whitewash by winning the final doubles.

Grove Guerrillas are the early leaders of the third division following a fine 8-2 win over Dawlish Aces. The Guerrillas’ Colin Butterworth and Andrew Gilhespy, as they did last week, secured maximums. Another Paul Hine maximum kept up the NA Raptors’ fine start to the season helping them to an 8-2 victory over NA Falcons.

There was a marathon encounter in the third division between Torre Vikings and Torbay Academy 3. Torre Vikings won it 8-2 but it was not as easy as the scoreline suggests with eight of the ten sets going to a fifth-game decider. Chris Garner led the way for the Vikings with a fine, hard-fought maximum. An Ionel Ichim maximum helped his Torbay Academy 4 team defeat clubmates Torbay Academy 5, 6-4.

Early leaders of the fourth division, NA Ospreys, showed no mercy as they defeated NA Vultures 9-1. Rob Ferguson and Mark Dulling were unbeaten for the Ospreys. Albie Andrews prevented the whitewash, securing the Vultures’ point. An Aleksandra Treder maximum for Torbay Academy 6 was not quite enough for victory as they shared the points with Torbay Academy 7.
