ABBROOK Park’s SDL5 Ladies team finished as runners-up in their league and received their trophy and certificate at Newton Abbot Bowls Club on Friday, October 25.

The ladies’ team started the season well on May 8 with a win against the Torbay Country Club, followed on the 20th by a clean sweep against Marldon BC taking all 10 points.
On May 30, another win, this time against Dawlish Marina. June started well for Abbrook’s ladies on the 17th with a second win over Marldon BC, before losing for the first time in the season the following day against Torbay Country Club.
After a very hectic week, they were back to normal with a win against Babbacombe BC. July stared well with a win against Paignton BC on the 11th and a week later, on the 18th, their second loss, this time in the return match against Babbacombe BC.
July 22nd was their third loss, a return match against Dawlish Marina, who would eventually win the league, four points ahead of Abbrook’s total of 66.
They finished the campaign in the fine style on the 30th with another 10-point victory in the return clash with Paignton BC.
Congratulations must go to Liz and her team for the hard work and for gaining promotion to the SDL4.
