BUCKLAND Athletic can exact swift revenge over Clevedon Town as the Western Football League high-flyers visit Homers Heath for a second consecutive Saturday.
The Newton Abbot-based team were knocked out of the FA Vase on November, 9 by Clevedon in a 3-0 defeat.
This fixture will now be repeated tomorrow but in the league, with the Somerset side having lost top spot to Brixham AFC in midweek. Brixham overtook them after winning away at St Blazey but given the three games in hand that Clevedon have, they remain the team to beat.
A record of 10-4-1 represents an extremely competent outfit but Buckland themselves have only lost twice, so will be keen to prove their own title credentials.
If the Bucks were to win, they would move to within one point of Clevedon whilst also having a game in hand, so this promises to be an important weekend at Homers.
In the South West Peninsula League Premier East, Newton Abbot Spurs have tomorrow off whereas Teignmouth AFC and Bovey Tracey AFC will go on their travels.
Teignmouth, who ended a five-game losing streak with their Walter C Parson League Cup win over Bodmin Town, visit rock-bottom Bishops Lydeard. It is a game that they need to take all three points from given Bishops’ poor record of 1-3-10.
Bovey meanwhile, will begin permanent life under Matt Hayden at Crediton United.
The club announced earlier this week that he would take on the role after a successful interim spell in charge and a clash with eighth-placed Crediton is an exciting way for Hayden to start his tenure.
Changing lanes to the South Devon Football League and the pick of the fixtures sees Newton Abbot 66 go toe-to-toe with Premier Division title rivals Waldon Athletic. The pair are leading the way in the top tier, Waldon with eight wins from nine and 66 with seven from nine.
There are only two other league games scheduled for the Premier Division due to the Herald Cup, and they both involve Mid-Devon teams.
Firstly, Chudleigh Athletic host East Allington United and secondly, Kingsteignton Athletic are away to Paignton Saints 1st XI.
In Division One, Buckland Athletic 2nd XI will make the very short trip to Abbrook Park to face WBB, a battle between seventh and sixth respectively with a single point separating them.
Bovey Tracey 2nd XI and NA Spurs 3rd XI have cup games, Bovey in the Herald Cup and Spurs in the Fred Hewings Cup. Bovey go to Torquay to take on Babbacombe Corinthians whilst Spurs are at home at The Rec, welcoming Waldon Athletic 2nd XI.
Also in the Herald Cup are Ipplepen Athletic 2nd XI, who prepare to take on Ivybridge Town 2nd XI on home soil.
The stand-out game in the Fred Hewings Cup first round is an all-Division Three top-of-the-table local derby at Kingsteignton where the 2nd team clash with reserves from Chudleigh Athletic in what should be a great watch.
