AFTER winning their first three games, the Men’s A Team at Newton Abbot Bowls Club lost away to Bitton Park 12-2 in their last outing.
Meanwhile, Newton’s Ladies were also beaten when they were in SDL action, the score being 8-2 in favour of Brixham Furzeham. This wasn’t the best of weeks for the teams but as they say, onwards and upwards.
Catherine Pickett and Mandy Holtby unfortunately lost their Ladies Major County Pairs Section Final to a pair from Abbrook Park, but they should be commended for getting to the Section Final in the first place.
Talking of finals and Keith Mortimore and Shaun Lynch have an upcoming Men's Major Pairs Section Final, playing a pair from Dawlish.
On what can only be described as one of the coldest afternoon games ever experienced, Alan Mann, Dave Pickett, Ken Howard and Shaun Lynch all featured for Devon Men against Somerset at Wellington Bowls Club. Despite the weather, everyone enjoyed themselves and the match was followed up by a very nice meal, which is always a bonus.
The club are pleased to see that they now have a full team to put out against Soar Valley tourists. Tourist games are the lifeblood of any club and so any and all support from members is always greatly appreciated.
Lastly there is a correction to last week’s report- Shaun Lynch took part in the Men’s Senior Fours Section Final at three and not Shaun Grice.
