DECOY Primary School had an exciting morning with ITV Westcountry News cameras descending on them in Newton Abbot.

The reason behind this visit was Ollie Watkins, the England striker having attended Decoy during his time growing up in Devon.

Year six student Zachary had the following to say about Watkins, as per the school’s Facebook page.

“Ever since I got into football, I have always kept up with Ollie and how he was doing. He’s sort of a role model for a lot of children in our school, and he entirely deserves it.

“Ollie is a superb player for Villa. Just to think he came from grassroots school football at Decoy to playing professional football in the most competitive league in the world.

“Everybody in our school is massively inspired by him. Watkins is such a good player, and is one of the most famous and magnificent players in the Premier League. He will do so well in the Euros, I’m sure.”

England get their European Championship campaign underway on Sunday 16 against Serbia whilst the tournament opener is tonight, when Scotland will go toe-to-toe with host nation Germany.
