MARINA Bowling Club Dawlish have made a great achievement in the Mid Devon League Division One by being promoted to the Premier League for next season- the first time in Marina’s history!

The top two teams go up and Marina are currently on 124 points, with a win in the final match set to take their tally to 138, two less than champions elect Torquay.

Division Three is going just as well for the ladies’ SDL A-Team who are currently top of the table with 100 points and have guaranteed top spot, and therefore, promotion also.

Dawlish Marina’s SDL B-Team have also produced some good wins this season and sit second in Division 5 at present, with two games still to play.

Meanwhile, back on July 10, a County Mixed pairs round took place at Marina with a home team facing a team from Abbrook Park. Pete Sweet and Deborah Kettley starred, scoring a hot shot (all eight bowls scoring in a single end).

The annual derby against the Lawn in Dawlish took place on Sunday July 28, with the Whitelegg Cups on the line (one for the men and one for the women). It was a very warm day and both teams prevailed for Marina.

Finally, it won’t be long until Finals weekend with club competitions on most days as members seek to get fixtures fulfilled in time.
