TOMORROW’S 2024 Ocean Healthcare Torbay Half Marathon and 10k events, which were due to be staged on Sunday morning (September 29) , have been cancelled.
The weather forecast indicates a strong likelihood of gale force winds and heavy rain, and organisers have cancelled the event on health and safety grounds.
Suzi Cumberland, managing director of organisers Taurus Events said, ‘First and foremost, we are sorry that it has been necessary to cancel the events at short notice and completely understand that many people will be disappointed.
‘However, the safety and well-being of participants, spectators and all those associated with the delivery of our events is our absolute priority, and with the predicted wind speeds, the only decision available to us, after consultation with other parties, has been to cancel.’
Because of the time of year, it will not be possible to reschedule the events in 2024, although they are planned to be staged in 2025.
All entrants have been advised of the cancellation and will receive details later in the week with options regarding a refund of their entry fee. The organisers thank everyone for their patience and understanding in this regard.
