NEWTON Abbot Bowls Club completed their finals days on Saturday, September 14.

Rain wreaked havoc on the day of the first attempt and so this was a second bite of the cherry. It began with the Club Triples, which was started on the previous Sunday but had to be stopped midway through due to the heavy rain.

It resumed with the score where the previous game had been at the time of postponement and resulted in the Triple of Isobel Burley, Bill Crilly and Paul Osborn winning against runners-up Ian Rice, Joy Medley and Steve Doyle. Luckily for all involved and all of those spectating, we can say this time around the weather was much more agreeable.

Congratulations also go to the duo of Trevor Voisey and Phil Underhill on reaching the final of the Teignmouth Tournament Pairs- they lost out to Stuart Evans and Ollie Lucas but it took an extra end to separate them so unlucky guys.

As noted in last week’s Mid-Devon Advertiser, the bowls outdoor season will finish for Newton Abbot on Saturday, September 21 but there will be plenty of indoor games for those members who are interested and of course, short mat will resume shortly at the club to keep your arm in over the winter months.
