AN injured deer had to be put down this morning, Thursday, September 19, after the closure of a section of the A38.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called just after half past six to reports of an injured deer on the A38, just outside of Chudleigh.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries to the deer, an armed unit were called in to put the animal down humanely.

The road has since been reopened.
