POLICE in Ashburton and Chudleigh have reported incidents of ‘noisy’ vehicles being driven around roads in the area.

Officers say they have had a number of complaints about such vehicles.

A spokesman said: ‘Although there are perfectly legal modifications allowed  to vehicles, many of the modifications we see are at best anti-social often illegal and at worst dangerous.’

The neighbourhood policing team say they will be investigating the complaints.

The spokesman said: ‘Over the next week we will be focusing on small pieces of information around vehicle modifications.’

They hope to help car owners avoid having their vehicle stopped and seized, or being issued with points or fines on your licence.

Not all modifications to cars are legal or safe.

Any modifications made must meet safety standards under the Road Vehicles Regulations Act 1996 as well as pass an MOT at any time.
