HALDON Trail Runners hosted their new-look Forest Flyer on Saturday July 27, starting at 18:00.

Approximately 5 miles of forest tracks, paths and fire roads in the beautiful Haldon Forest Park, Exeter the route is fairly flat to start with but there is a long, uphill ascent to the finish- some run the full hill, others tactically walk part of it.

The race included twists and turns, enclosed and open sections making a nice variety to the course.

James Long led the 24-strong team of Trotters home and he apparently even had time for a little walk on the final hill.

Meanwhile, the Teignbridge duo of Roger Eastbrook and Claire Farrar took part in the annual Kingsbridge 10k.

This was a challenging evening race with regular hills. The race route heads up the high street before heading east towards Slapton along the quiet lanes.

Competitors include visiting tourists, some with serious speed, as well as locals and fun runners.

Roger had a good battle for 5th place and was 1st male vet 50 in a time of 40:16.

Claire Farrar came 95th in a time of 1.29.29 with both agreeing just how challenging a course it was

Roger said: " The top 10 this year had many new faces, with local legend Jim Cole (36.15) triumphing” whilst “Rebecca Hillard 3rd place, was 1st lady, visiting from Bergen Norway."

Congratulations go to the pair of them for their efforts and also to all of the Trotters who took part in the aforementioned Forest Flyer.
