BEN Coen’s England U20s team have won once again in South Africa to book their spot in the final of the World Championships.

After beating Argentina, Fiji and hosts South Africa in the group stages, they were set up with a knockout clash versus Ireland.

It was a fairly high-scoring game once again at 31-20 and Mark Mapletoft’s men were on the right side of it, advancing to a first final since 2018.

Ireland had a previous meeting with Australia cancelled so they were the fresher of the two coming into this, and it showed, as they drew first blood.

England stuck together though and got over the line for a fourth successive win at this tournament thanks to tries from Craig Wright, Ollie Allan and Sean Kerr. Teignmouth’s Coen wasn’t on the kicking duties this time with Kerr slotting two conversions and four penalties, but the fly-half was still representing Devon in the starting XV.

France await in the final on Friday 19 at 18:00, a team they beat 45-31 back in March.
