NEWTON Abbot’s losing streak in South West Two is now 10 games long after a 73-21 home defeat by Crediton.
The All Whites, who have not won since beating Wellington in week two, are nine points away from safety at the wrong end of the table.
Crediton were 40-0 up at half time and had increased their lead to 47 points before Newton got on the scoreboard.
Kevin Dennis, who was a Newton Abbot regular during their South West Premier Division days a decade ago, scored a first half hat-trick for current club Crediton.
Dennis, Josh Hall, Josh Woodland (2) and Matt Arnold all went over as Crediton piled up the points. Woodland’s first try earned Crediton a four-score bonus point after 17 minutes.
Ollie Avery-Wright, another Newton Abbot old boy, landed six conversions from seven attempts.
Newton Abbot got on the board two minutes into the second half before the largely one-way traffic resumed.
Jake Clarke, Luke Mingo (another Newton Abbot old boy), Josh Davey and Hall all added five-pointers. Avery-Wright was three from four in the second half.
Newton Abbot’s try scorers were Matt Juniper, Jack Sealey and Jacob Forey. Tom Steer converted all three tries.
Four ex-Newton Abbot players were in Crediton’s starting line-up. Dennis, Mingo and Avery-Wright were joined by fellow old-boy Chris Courtier in the XV.
