TEIGNMOUTH RFC captain Pete Parsons is targeting a win over Cullompton in the basement battle at Bitton Park on Saturday, writes Conrad Sutcliffe.

The Teigns have only won twice in seven starts this season – and not at all in any of the last three games. A 62-12 defeat by Crediton last time out represented the low point of the season so far.

As Cullompton are one of the three teams below Teignmouth in the league table, Saturday’s game is a chance to pull away from the wrong end of it.

Said Parsons: “It is a must-win game, there is no other way of putting it.”

NEWTON Abbot, another of the teams below Teignmouth in the standings, make the long trek to North Somerset to face Winscombe.

The All Whites’ playing record is just one win in seven outings and they have not tasted victory since overturning Wellington in round two.

Five straight defeats have left Newton Abbot rock bottom in the table, where they are already four points adrift of fellow strugglers Cullompton and North Petherton.
