NEWTON Abbot slipped into the bottom two in South West Two when they lost 43-18 at Truro, writes Conrad Sutcliffe.
Truro were second from bottom going into round five, but have moved four points and three places ahead of Newton Abbot.
Matt Juniper and Jamie Barnes were Newton Abbot’s try scorers at St Clement’s Hill. Tom Steer landed a conversion and two penalties.
It won’t be any easier for Newton Abbot this Saturday as they are returning to Cornwall to face fifth-in-the-table Wadebridge Camels.
After that, Newton will be at home to Okehampton RFC before starting the month of November with a trip to Winecombe.
Newton Abbot RFC Spartans had an equally underwhelming weekend, losing 47-18 to Cullompton RFC 2nd XV.
Coming up for the NARFC Women’s team are matchups against Plymstock Albion Oaks on October 20, a home game versus Crediton at the start of next month and then a trip to Penryn Ladies on November 24.
