ABBROOK Park Bowls Club had a great turnout for their opening day on Sunday.
It was probably the largest opening day attendance in the history of the club. The day started with a speech from Chairman Tom Archer and President Gordon Clark, who then bowled the first wood of the season and hoped we have the same success as last season. This was followed by the traditional ‘spider’ competition.
The prize was two bottles of wine, won by Tricia Bailey. With so many members ready to play, the green was reorganised to allow seven rinks of bowling.
On Saturday, April 20, Abbrook Park are inviting anyone interested in bowls to come along between 10am and 1pm for tea or coffee and a chance to have a roll up. Abbrook Park is a friendly, forward-thinking club with a great social side for those not wishing to bowl and free parking.
