ASHMOOR men's 2nd team consolidated their position at the top of Riviera Division 1 with an emphatic team performance to win against Torbay.

Youngster Tom Faulkner opened the scoring after good work by Player of the Match Harry Little. Minutes later good work by Sam Haywood on the right-hand side set up a simple finish for Matt Pearce.

Taylor Ingham-Hill, on his first outing of the season in Ashmoor colours, made it 3-0 following up a penalty corner shot. Pearce then claimed his hat trick after a great pass from skipper Tyrone France set him up, and then a corner rebound made it 5-0 at the interval.

After half time Ashmoor didn't let up. Ever alert Dan Cowdry scored two of his own, before Ashmoor wrapped up the nine-goal victory with two penalty corner finishes from Pearce and then Player of the Match Harry Little.

The win was Ashmoor's eighth in a row, and leaves thenm four points clear at the top of the table. This Saturday they face Ashmoor's 3rd Team who are in 7th in the division - it should be an interesting game for the neutrals!

Talking of Ashmoor men's 3rd XI and they claimed their third win of the season over basement side Torbay. Captain John Lilley made claims on the first goal which ended up in the net off a Torbay defender.

The lively Tom Frappart scored Ashmoor's second and fourth goals, and in between Tim Brodbelt got in on the act.

Although the game had to be called 18 minutes before time, the league officials ruled that the result should stand.

Player of the Match for Ashmoor was the evergreen Frappart.
