Dart Women's 3rd XI. 0

Ashmoor Womens 1st XI. 4

ASHMOOR faced Dart this weekend in a battle for the top spot and the weather made a tough fight for the Ashmoor ladies. Ashmoor started off strongly displaying the great form they are in at the moment.

Sophie Blee scored early on in the game with a lovely strike across goal from the post after Sophie Walker had taken the ball up to Ashmoor's attacking circle. Top goal scorer Tilly McEwen then made it 2-0 to Ashmoor after some fantastic passing and moving from the back. At the stroke of halftime, Ashmoor were awarded a penalty corner which was confidently put away by McEwen.

Ashmoor defended brilliantly in the second half and Sophie Blee scored another from close range working herself into the right spot for the finish yet again. The goal made the final score 4-0 to Ashmoor, a really encouraging result in what was viewed as their toughest match yet.

Player of the Match was Laura Colwill for excellent defensive and attacking play contributing to many of the Ashmoor goals.

Ashmoor Women's 1st team are currently looking comfortable at the top of the league, with a four-point lead, coupled with an excellent goal difference. This Saturday, Ashmoor face Dawlish 1st XI at home.

West Dorset Men's 2nd XI. 5

The Men’s 4th Development XI were also in action, fielding a well-balanced side with a perfect mix of very young, and much older players, against a strong West Dorset 2nd team.

In the tricky conditions, Ashmoor were caught out early on and then Alex Troake in goal was unlucky with the second. After the break, Brodbelt rifled in a penalty corner to make it very much game on.

An illegal block denied Ashmoor an equaliser and then West Dorset settled the nerves with a third and added two more late on.

Nevertheless, it was a positive Ashmoor performance and there is a break for them this weekend.
