GAME Day six of the men’s South Devon Golf League will take place tomorrow, 29 June, getting the second half of the campaign underway.
All three home teams won the reverse fixtures two weeks ago and so the trio of Churston, Dainton and Teignmouth will be hoping for a repeat of this trend.
Dainton’s defeat at the hands of the Warren was particularly narrow, at 4.5-2.5, so confidence will surely be high when they take to their own course.
Teignmouth and Churston meanwhile were on the receiving end of one-sided scorelines, the latter losing 5.5-1.5 at Torquay and the former losing 6.5-0.5 at Stover.
Talking of Stover and the club who can proudly boast a newly renovated course, can also boast top spot at the halfway stage.
Four wins and a draw from five outings is representative of their great form, leading the way on a strong 23 points.
Churston may have two wins and three defeats to their name but only five points separate them from the leaders, with Torquay and The Warren another couple back on 16.
Teignmouth and Dawlish are bringing up the rear on 13.5 and 11.5 respectively but all is still to play for and an assured home victory for either of those two clubs could thrust them firmly back into the mix.
Equally, Torquay and Dainton saw their season opener postponed so they have a game in hand which could make all the difference.
The last five years of the SDL have seen four teams reign victorious with Torquay and Churston also picking up wins over the years, showing just how tight and unpredictable a competition this is.
