DAINTON Park ladies have made it through to the Sheelah Creasy quarter-finals, to be held at Okehampton Golf Club on August 12.
This year, the format was three singles and two sets of greensomes. The rounds started in April at Thurlestone in awful weather, it was so windy that the trolleys were blowing over and it was so difficult to putt with balls being blown all over the green.
However, Mary Shepherd won her game on the last hole with a fantastic putt. Dainton’s home game against Thurlestone was a different story where they won three matches out of five.
Their next matches were against Torquay and Fingle Glen. Dainton had a great win away to Fingle Glen winning four games out of five. They were delighted because Fingle Glen is a very difficult course.
The final match was away to Torquay where Dainton halved the match, securing their place in the quarter-finals.
