BRITTANY, France was the destination for members of Dainton Park Golf Club and a few guest players from other local clubs between October 6 and 10.

The trip was organised by Head Professional, Richard Woods, in conjunction with the local Devon Travel company “Bonjour Golf”. The group of 27 golfers left Dainton by coach on Sunday early evening, heading for the Brittany Ferries in Plymouth for a 10 o'clock sail to Roscoff.

Arriving in Brittany at 8am the next day, the group made their way to Brest Iroise GC for their first round, playing a Stableford competition.

Afterwards, they headed to their base, The Grand Hotel Abbatiale in Benodet on the river estuary. They were able to sample several local restaurants and French wine for their evening meal.

On Tuesday, they played a Better Ball Pairs competition at Val Queven Golf Club, followed by a Blind Stableford competition on Wednesday at the local course to Benodet, L’Odet Golf Club. On both days, the party were able to enjoy the “apres Golf” on the verandas in the sunshine.

The weather was kind throughout the trip with warm, sunny spells- there was the occasional heavy downpour but everyone came off of the courses bone dry.

They set off for home on the Thursday after a hypermarket visit en route to Roscoff’s ferry terminal, eventually arriving back in Plymouth at 8pm.

This is the first trip of this kind organised by the club and due to its success, no doubt there will be more of its kind in the future.
