A CAPTAIN’s drive-in is a customary way to bring in the new year in the world of golf and that was no different at Dainton Park.
Jo Dearing, the club's new lady captain, drove the ball 100 yards down the first fairway last week bringing in her exciting year.
Members on both ladies days, Sunday and Tuesday, watched Jo teeing off- raising money for her chosen charity- a local Baby Care Unit.
Amanda Milverton and Anne Johnson both won the yardage draw, putting 99 and 101 respectively and winning a bottle of bubbly for their troubles. Nobody put 100!
The ladies played in a fun greensome match-play competition on both days with the captain’s team taking on the past captain’s team, with the overall winner of the amalgamated competition from both days being the captain’s team by an extremely close margin of just one point.
