TEIGNMOUTH Golf Club Seniors held their annual Turkey Trot Stableford competition shotgun start on Monday, December 9 when 83 of them competed for the Tappenden Cup.
The top five finishers each received a cash prize with the winner also receiving the Tappenden Cup.
With 35 points, Bob Collier lifted the cup, closely followed by Glanville Pugh on 34 points and then a trio on 32. Kevin Hewings was third, Charlie Yates was fourth and Richard Palmer fifth, the three being separated by countback.
There were other prizes on the day with Malcolm Tester winning Nearest the Snowman on hole one, John Richardson the Nearest the Pin on hole five, Trevor Stratford the Nearest the Santa on hole 10, Martin Hall the Longest Drive on hole 13, Kevin Hewings the Nearest the Pin in two on hole 14 and Ashley Hamer the Nearest the Pin on hole 16.
All the remaining players each won a bottle which they chose from the prize table in descending order of scores from 31 points down to 13 points.
After a steak and ale pie-lunch, Senior Captain Dave Anderson thanked all the players for participating in the Turkey Trot and presented a bottle of wine to Tony McHale for organising the event, John Dabin as Competiton Secretary and Mick Gallagher for organising the Tote. Chris Hill’s work in the pro-shop with the organising the scorecards also got him thanks.
Players were able to try to predict the winner on the tote and there were two winners, each receiving £68 each, these being Bob Collier who backed himself and Dave Duddridge who backed Bob.
A total of £137 was raised from the Tote which will go towards the combined Captains Charities for 2024.
