IPPLEPEN Athletic’s home fixture against Plymouth Marjon fell victim to the weather, as did the rest of the Devon Football League slate on Saturday, December 7.

They are swiftly offered the chance to go again in the league with a trip to Thorverton FC scheduled for the 14th.

A number of the DFL teams will be taking part in the Sportslighting Premier Cup whilst Ipplepen and a few others have these league games to look forward to instead.

Sitting in dead last in the table, every outing looks extremely difficult for the ‘Pens on paper and taking on Thorverton is no different.

6-4-4 is Thorverton’s current record as they occupy ninth in the standings on 22 points and just three behind Topsham Town in fifth, highlighting just how narrow a battle it is up and down the division.

Ipplepen will then visit Beer Albion on the 21st before closing out 2024 with a third consecutive away game, this one coming against Plymouth Marjon.

As previously alluded too, the DFL table paints a pretty stark picture for Ipplepen who are bringing up the rear with just five points to their name, winning once, drawing twice and losing the other 11 games.

Bere Alston United are only a single point ahead of them though with the likes of North Molton Sports Club and Budleigh Salterton also in reach if a few results go the way of the Mid-Devon-based side.

Cup games of note this weekend include Budleigh going away to Sidmouth Town 2nd XI plus North Molton Sports Club and Beer Albion hosting Plymouth Marjon and Fremington respectively. Also worth keeping an eye on is the Devon Football League showdown that pits fifth-placed Topsham Town and sixth-placed Ottery St. Mary against each other.
