NEWTON Abbot RFC, whose home game against North Petherton last Saturday was a weather victim, are away to Wellington in South West Two.

The rock-bottom All Whites have not won a league game since the last time the two sides met back in mid-September.

A win over Wellington could lift Newton off the bottom of the table, providing fellow strugglers Truro slip-up at home to Teignmouth.

TEIGNMOUTH skipper Pete Parsons is hoping to be fit for his side’s basement battle at Truro.

Parsons had to leave the field due to injury in the Teigns’ home defeat by Wadebridge last time out.

A win at Truro could give the Teigns a 10-point cushion between themselves and the bottom two.

Teignmouth’s delayed game against Okehampton is likely to be re-arranged for January 25, which is the next blank date on the fixture calendar.

In spite of the adverse weather conditions, there were two games that went ahead in the league, Crediton beating Wellington 38-5 on home soil whilst Tiverton travelled to Cullompton and returned home with a 32-14 victory under their belt.

Cully will head to fourth-placed Crediton next and as they themselves are by no means clear of the relegation battle, Newton and Truro will be hoping for a positive result.

There will then be one final round of fixtures before Christmas, to round out the action for 2024. Newton and Teignmouth will both be at home, welcoming Crediton and Topsham to their respective patches with the goal surely being a positive conclusion to an otherwise difficult calendar year.

Cullompton vs Truro, Okehampton vs Tiverton, Wadebridge Camels vs Wellington and Winscombe vs North Petherton are the four other Regional 2 Tribute South West matchups on December 21.
