BLUE was the colour for the evening when the Dainton Park GC Ladies held their annual Christmas dinner and presentation evening last month.

They enjoyed a wonderful 3-course meal in the Oak Room after the winners for the 2024 Golf season were awarded their trophies and prizes.

Vicky Cave was named as Golfer of the Year whilst also getting her hands on the Scratch Knockout title. Charlotte Husband and Julie Winsor were the Gross and Nett champions respectively meanwhile.

Sally Clements was the Handicap Knockout winner and Most Improved Player as well, plus Karen Cole earned the Leadbetter Trophy and Jo Fisher won the Captains’ Challenge.

Other winners pictured with various trophies are Sue Elson, Julie Pirongs, Sarah Martin, Vicky Mayling, Kathy Hill, Sue Gurney and Mel Runham.

Sticking with Dainton and the seniors AGM took place last week with 31 seniors attending, being preceded by 2025 Captain David Allott.

A lot of members watched on as Dave fired off an 186-yard drive down the first fairway. The winner of the guess the yardage competition was Paul Norton, raising some money for the 2025 Seniors Captains Charity which is Motor Neurone Disease.

Outgoing captain Mike Lang presented the charity cheque from money raised in his 2024 captains year, a wonderful amount of £4,530 to the representatives from the Marie Curie who gave a short talk about their organisation and how the funds raised would help them.
