Buckland Athletic 7 Paulton Rovers 0

BUCKLAND Athletic let a two-goal and one-man advantage go to waste in the Western Football League on Saturday, September 7.

Street FC fought back to earn a point at Homers Heath and on home soil once again, Buckland bounced back in emphatic style.

Paulton Rovers FC were the visitors this time around on Saturday 14 and Athletic hit them for seven unanswered goals in their second-biggest win of the campaign thus far, not quite matching the 8-0 thrashing of Welton Rovers at the end of July.

Ryan Richards bagged a brace whilst Ryan Smith, Owen Haslam, Sam Morcom, Sam Stayt and Luke Forward also found the back of the net for Dan Hart’s side.

The Buckland boss told the club’s media that “In the second half in particular, it was easy on the eye” with a special mention for new arrival Luke Forward: “Really pleased for Luke to get that on his debut, to score a goal.”

Hart added that, “We’ve been working so hard since last year on defensive structure, being hard to play against and being hard to beat. We’re limiting teams to minimal chances really” and so it was a game where he was clearly impressed with what he saw at both ends of the pitch.

Games come thick and fast now with this victory being followed up by outings on September 18, 21, 24 and 28- the standout fixture being Torquay United’s trip to Homers in the Devon St Luke’s Challenge Cup on Tuesday, 24.
