MID Devon Cycling Club members showcased their talent across a variety of disciplines and locations this weekend, from national youth racing in Scotland to local road races and challenging European sportives.

Youth rider Meryn Kitching travelled to Scotland for the opening round of the National Youth Series. The three-stage event included a prologue, road race, and circuit race.

Meryn finished the Stage One prologue in 62nd place, the Stage Two road race in 60th, and put in a strong performance in the fast and eventful Stage Three circuit race to finish 34th. This effort saw him climb to 40th overall in the General Classification (GC).

Closer to home, the Plymouth Corinthian Spring Road Race provided exciting local competition. Okehampton CC's Lloyd Copp secured victory in the 3/4 category sprint on the new 'Ermington Valley' circuit in South Devon.

Mid Devon Cycling Club's junior rider, Henry Cadwallader, rode impressively to take third place, with Cian Bryant (Reflex Nopinz) finishing second. The race saw a breakaway group of 25 riders, including Copp, Cadwallader, and Mid Devon CC's Shaun Davey.

Davey also achieved a strong result, finishing fourth. Mid Devon CC's Edward Fraile-Whysall won the bunch sprint to claim seventh place.

Club Chairman Mike Gratton was among members who took on the iconic Paris-Roubaix Challenge in northern France.

This annual event allows amateur cyclists to experience the legendary cobbled sections of the professional Paris-Roubaix race the day before the main event. Participants could choose from various distances, all finishing at the Roubaix Velodrome, providing a unique opportunity to test themselves on the challenging and historic cobbles.

Several members also participated in the Haldon Heroic, a gravel sportive held in the Haldon Forest area. The event, organized by Sportiva Events, featured excellent gravel trails suitable for gravel, cyclocross, mountain, and e-bikes. Riders enjoyed the great trails and dry weather in this popular local event.

The Mike Brewer Memorial 10-mile Time Trial on the Ermington course, part of the South West Cup - Round Three saw Liz Cook achieve a notable result, finishing as the 2nd woman and the first youth rider in a time of 31 minutes.

In the Exeter Wheels CC (SPORTING) 17-mile Time Trial, held on a challenging course starting in Woodbury and heading towards the common, Mid Devon CC's Ian Deakin finished in 14th place with a time of 0:53:12.

Newnham Park hosted the 3rd round of the South West MTB XC Series, with a strong turnout from Mid Devon Cycling Club's off-road riders.

In the Under 8 category, Risu Wikeley secured an excellent 2nd place, closely followed by clubmate Jenson Scott in 3rd. Darcie Scott finished 6th in the Under 10 female race, while Caspian Wikeley placed 7th in the Under 10 open category.

James Allen demonstrated a great recovery from a recent crash to win the Juvenile category. Lara Dix took victory in the Junior Female category. In the Masters 50 category, James Bovey finished 5th, and Andy Tayler came in 9th.

This weekend's results highlight the diverse talents and commitment of Mid Devon Cycling Club members across a range of cycling disciplines and locations.
