MID-Devon Cycling Club had a fantastic showing at the recent Cyclocross World Masters Championships in Hamburg, Germany.
Three of their seasoned riders tackled the challenging course, achieving impressive results.
Robin Delve, a former World Champion in the Veteran category, once again proved his prowess in the Masters 65 category. Starting strong from the front of the grid, he secured a commendable 5th place overall.
Making her debut at this prestigious event, Jackie Shute thoroughly enjoyed the experience and delivered a strong performance in the Masters category, finishing in a respectable 7th place.
Catherine Kilburn capped off the club's successful outing with an outstanding 3rd place finish in the Masters 60 category, securing a well-deserved spot on the podium before the long trip home just in time to race the next round of the SWCX league.
Over 170 riders from across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset descended on Exeter Bike Park for the eighth round. Hosted by the University of Exeter Cycling Club in their inaugural cyclocross event, the course proved to be a true test of skill and endurance. Steep climbs, treacherous off-camber sections, and intermittent rain made for a challenging day for riders of all ages.
The event saw riders from six to seventy years old tackle the course in various categories. Mid Devon, fresh from hosting the National Trophy, dominated the podium, with notable wins from Lauren Fox, James Allen, Eva Fox, Catherine Kilburn, and Robin Delve.
Other strong performances from Mid Devon CC included: U10 George Bleloch (6th), U12s Fredrik Simcock (3rd), Will Cook (11th) & Henry Hatton (12th), U14s Oliver Gray (5th) & Thomas Bleloch (6th), U16s Meryn Ketching (2nd) & Sam Gray (3rd), JW Lara Dix (3rd), V50Ws Jackie Shute (3rd) & Nicky Quant (6th) and V50Ms James Bovey (3rd) & Martin Smith (19th).
