BOVEY Tracey Bowling Club held its annual trophy presentation dinner at Stover Golf Club on Saturday, November 23.

The trophies are presented to the winners of the various internal club competitions which are ongoing throughout the summer season, culminating in the finals weekend in early September just prior to the green closure.

A two-course dinner with tea/coffee was enjoyed prior to the presentation ceremony, with announcements by club Chairman Colin Miall, and trophy presentations by President Margaret Bolt.

Competition winners were as follows: Phil Joy- Men’s Championship, Sue Johnson- Ladies’ Championship, Roger Bailey- Men’s Two Woods & Ley Cup Mixed Four Woods, Heidi Call- Ladies’ Two Woods & Ladies’ Handicap, Keith Lockett- Men’s Handicap and Annette Isaaks- Umbrella Cup (for new members).

On to the team events: Andy Walding & Phil Joy- Men’s Drawn Pairs, Sarah Breame & Heidi Call- Ladies’ Drawn Pairs, Julie Chew & Kevin Addey & Sue Johnson- Mixed Drawn Triples, Christina Towle & Dave Johnson- Mixed Drawn Pairs and Sue & Dave Johnson- Wednesday League Mixed Pairs.

The event was remarkably well-attended by the majority of the membership despite the appalling weather conditions resulting from storm Bert.

During the winter season, Bovey has been active indoors with weekly roll-ups at Torquay United Indoor Club on Friday afternoons. They have been grateful too, to receive invitations from other local clubs who enjoy the benefit of indoor facilities and have so far visited Madeira Club, Exmouth, where they lost overall, and Dawlish IBC, where they drew.

They have also been invited to provide opposition for guest clubs enjoying bowls breaks at the Derwent Hotel, Torquay.

A programme of various non-bowls events is ongoing throughout the winter including coffee mornings, pub games night, ladies' lunch, bingo night with fish and chips and race day at Exeter racecourse.
