EXCITEMENT was in the air as Mayor Rosie Dawson visited Marina Bowling Club to open the green on Saturday.
Rosie bowled the first wood of the 2024 season after being introduced by the club president, Rick Purnell. It was not the only reason for excitement as the Mayor and one of the members had made cake which was free to members.
As matches start quite early in the season this year, members were keen to get some practice in. The weather was glorious as the sun was shining. It is always a challenge at the start of a new season, particularly as many members have been bowling indoors on carpet through the winter so it can take some time to adjust.
Here is hoping for a generous helping of dry weather to facilitate practice, and we wish everyone a successful season.
