DAWLISH Marina Bowls Club held a fun Sunday afternoon on July 14 for the “Legends” born in 1954. Thanks to the hard work put in by Stephanie and Lin and their respective other halves who devised some great bowls games. Also, thanks to Pete and Gaye for doing the BBQ.

It was great to see so many members turning up in their outfits for the theme of “beach”.

The Men’s MDL Division 1 and the Ladies SDL A teams continue to stay at the top of their leagues. SDL Marina A team have currently played seven matches and have 57 points, whereas Totnes who are second have played eight and have 55 points.

Meanwhile, the ladies’ A-team were in league action against Totnes on Friday 19 and it was a difficult away trip. On the tricky rink, Marina took their first loss, even after miraculously coming back from 10-4 down to win 21-15 on rink four.

Marina B men’s over-60s had a great result away at Madeira, securing eight points and a first away win of the season. Tony, Ian and Mick won 22-10 whilst Tony, Rick and Nigel won 17-10, so well done to the away team.

Marina ladies’ SDL B team have two wins and a defeat to their names to date. Rain has caused one game to be rearranged and the funeral of a much-liked member meant another also to be rearranged.

Let the warm weather continue and the rain stay away as in-house club competitions continue at pace with some very skilled players in the mix.
