NEWTON Abbot pair Isobel Burley and Julia Barnes represented Devon Ladies in the Johns’ Trophy on a wet afternoon in Bridport.
They bowed out of the competition, losing to Somerset, one game short of qualifying for Leamington.
Isobel and Julia both have the Open of the County 2 Wood Singles at Paignton on July 28 starting around 10.00am to now look forward to and they would appreciate any support.
Shaun Grice and Will Stevens were members of the Devons Middleton Cup Squad and likewise, better luck next year, as it’s not very often that both squads fail to reach Leamington.
Elsewhere, the men's A Team’s winning run in the MDL Premier League continued with a 10-4 away win at Abbrook Park, followed by a 13-1 home win against Shaldon. Four games remain and the league title is a definite possibility, although, home and away clashes with Shaldon as well as trips to Kings and Paignton make it a tough ask.
The men's A Team lost out in the Section 5 Final of the Foxlands against Shaldon which consisted of one rink at home and one away.
After winning their second game of the season, the Men's B Team lost their next game to Totnes and still find themselves in a perilous position in the league, but there is still time for this to change.
Lastly, the men’s C Team had a 10-4 win against Brixham St Marys, 84 shots to 57 and remain comfortable in their respective League.
