A care home worker from Teignmouth is retiring after almost a quarter of a century.

Yvonne Jenne, who is 66, has worked as a healthcare assistant and housekeeper at The White House care home in Teignmouth for 24 years.

Yvonne, who ‘never took a day’s sick leave’, will be missed by her colleagues who described her as a ‘genuine, lovely person’.

Tracie Bowen, manager of The White House care home expanded: ‘Yvonne has been a cornerstone of our home and, while we are happy for her as she embarks on this new journey, we will certainly miss her dearly.’

Now she is retiring, Yvonne plans to relax and spend more time on her hobbies which include collecting teaspoons from different places and making tapestry cushions.

‘I will miss working with my colleagues and the lovely residents. It’s the people that make every day special.’ Yvonne said.
