Residents of North Bovey will be marking their territory this Saturday (June 8) as they complete the third and final leg of the beating the bounds.
The ancient tradition of beating the bounds usually involves walking the perimeter of the parish and hitting boundary markers, usually stones, with sticks. Occasionally parishioners are knocked against the boundary markers.
Parishioners of North Bovey will gather in the village at 9am to start from Grimspound at 9:30am. The beating the bounds is likely to last until 4pm when participants will share a cream tea at the North Bovey Parish Hall.
