While other carnival events have struggled in recent years, due to increased costs and red tapes and reduced volunteer numbers, Bovey Tracey carnival continues to put on a full week of events.

The festivities kick off this Saturday July 27 with the ever-popular picnic at Mill Marsh Park. The live music event is designed for visitors to pitch up with a blanket. There’s no obligation to pack a picnic hamper as there will be plenty of food stalls offering a range of options to suit all tastes.

During carnival week there are plenty of events including a car quest scavenger hunt, prize bingo, a quiz and chips night, and a sports evening.

Throughout the week, there’s a chance to take part in the misplaced article and window competition running in the main town shop fronts. The funfair will also be running in Mill Marsh Park.

Bovey Tracey carnival week culminates in the grand carnival day on Saturday August 3. The lively parade starts at 6pm and organisers promise an array of colourful float, individuals and community groups.

Carnival celebrations continue on Sunday August 4 with the grand summer fete in Mill Marsh Park where there will be plenty of stalls, games, entertainment and food.

‘Come and join us for a jam-packed week of joy, camaraderie, and community spirit,’ a Bovey Tracey carnival committee spokesperson said.
