Residents of Bovey Tracey are being asked to brush up on their art skills in preparation for the town’s first 24 hour street draw.
The free community event will see artists, students, art-enthusiasts and amateurs hitting the streets in and around Bovey Tracey to draw whatever is in front of them.
Artworks will be donated to a Street Draw 24 exhibition at Grace and Favour in Bovey Tracey to raise money for homeless charity, the Amber Foundation, which supports young adults in Devon.
The Bovey Street Draw 24 starts at 2pm on Friday September 13 and draws to a close at 2pm on Saturday September 14.
Participants are not confined to just drawing. Creators can also paint, collage, take rubbings or make prints. Artists can use their own materials or get a participation pack from Grace and Favour Home, which is organising the event along with the community interest company StreetDraw 24.
The StreetDraw 24 exhibition will be held at Grace and Favour Home in Bovey Tracey on Friday October 4 and Saturday October 5. During the exhibition the artwork created during the event will be sold with half the funds raised going to the Amber Foundation and half going to StreetDraw to help put on further events.
‘We are really looking forward to the event. Hopefully it will bring people out and together to celebrate our town and get creative, all whilst generating funds and awareness for a great charity,’ said Steve Jones, owner of Grace and Favour Home.
