FIREFIGHTERS from Bovey Tracey and Ashburton were kept busy at the start of Bank Holiday weekend when they attended a vehicle fire on the A38 near Drumbridges.

Crews were called to tackle a well-developed fire in a converted camper van on Saturday morning (August 24). They used four breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to tackle the blaze, which is believed to have started in the engine.

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to access the engine compartment and environmental kits to ensure water run off and fuel did not leak into the surrounding environment.
