STOVER School's U13 and U11 netball teams have secured their spots in the upcoming Netball Nationals in Warwick after exceptional performances at the regional tournament. Both teams displayed outstanding skill, teamwork, and determination, earning their places as regional champions.
The U13 team played seven games in a round-robin format, securing six impressive victories. Their only loss came against St Michael's School.
Stover's U13 team scored a total of 51 goals while conceding just 21, finishing in second place behind the aforementioned St Michael's. This strong showing has earned them a well-deserved spot in the national competition.
Meanwhile, the U11 team had an equally successful day, finishing the group stage with a perfect record of five wins from five games.
Their journey continued as they faced Kingsley in the semi-final, where they put on a dominant display and deservedly reached the final. The final saw Stover go head-to-head with Heywood, and after an excellent display of netball from both teams, Stover triumphed with a 5-1 win.
With seven wins out of seven games, the U11 team were crowned regional champions and will now represent their school at the Nationals.
Both teams did themselves proud and the entire school community is incredibly proud of their achievements. Competitive and excellent netball was on show for all on what was a fantastic sporting afternoon.
Mr Lloyd, Director of Sport at Stover School, praised the teams for their remarkable achievements, stating, “This is a fantastic achievement from both teams to qualify for the National ISA Netball competition for the second year in a row. They should be very proud of their performances, and we all wish them the best of luck at the Nationals in March.”
