Riviera Division 1

Ashmoor Men's 2nd XI. 4

University of Exeter 7th XI. 0

IN A really well-contested game, Ashmoor men’s seconds came out on top against a lively and skilful University side to maintain their 100% record in Riviera Division 1.

After Exeter’s first chance of the game was dealt with by Ashmoor’s defence, they broke the deadlock at the other end, Reuben Stanley converting a penalty corner.

Player of the match Charles Walker (photographed by Mark Lockett) was then set up by Tom Barnett to make it 2-0 in the second half, Walker making it three before Harry Little concluded the scoring.

The strong team performance was exemplified by Ashmoor's team defensive organisation which saw them shut out a team who have scored over four goals per game. Next up for the league leaders is a trip to Exeter M2s.

Riviera Division 2

Ashmoor Men's 4th Development. 2

Isca Men's 7th XI. 2

Ashmoor's Development side held their own against an Isca side who had been relegated from the higher division the previous season.

Youngster Alex Southgate opened the scoring on 11 minutes, continuing his goal per game since his debut. Centre midfield Tim Brodbelt then made it 2-0 to Ashmoor. Just before half-time Isca pulled a goal back to make it 2-1.

The match was an even contest and midway through the second half the away side made it 2-2. Both teams went close to scoring again, but with Alex Troake making some excellent saves in the Ashmoor goal, the scores remained even and the game finished as a draw.

Player of the match for Ashmoor was youngster Herb Beswick.

This weekend, the men's 4th team have no league fixture, whilst the men’s 3rd Team and Ashmoor women’s team both host Isca.
