SEVERAL Teignbridge Trotters took on the Fast Friday, flat Exeter Event on Good Friday.
Kevin Besford reports that the “Rain started light for most of the race but came back for the last couple of kilometres, with strong head winds on half of the loop course".
Lucy took part for her 50th birthday, running with Laura Law and Rebecca Smallshaw (the trip pictured). The conditions were difficult but there were still some brilliant PBs.
Results included; Donald Brooks 5th 33.39, Tim Pratt 37th 37:24, Glenn Palmer 101st 43:29, Susanna Pratt 131st 46:45, Kevin Besford 198th 53:07, Rachel Harrison 214th 54:29, Rebecca Smallshaw 215th 54:44, Lucy Evans 217th 54:51, Laura Law 220th 54:52.
On April 13 meanwhile, Derek Skinner took part in his 98th Marathon. The first Paris Marathon, the Tour de Paris Marathon, took place in 1896. A big crowd gathered to watch 191 participants. This present Paris Marathon dates from 1976 and this year there was 55501 finishers.
The route takes in the most iconic landmarks of the capital: the Palais Garnier, Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and the Arc de Triomphe.
There were generous quantities of bananas, gingerbread slices, dried fruits, sugar cubes, pretzels, salted crackers on the many food/water stations along the way with great support from Parisians.
With the amount of runners and an injury, Derek was quite happy with a time of 04:36:50, 40,818th out of 55k+ finishers.
Allen Taylor and Rob Faulkner travelled to Lincolnshire to join son Josh Taylor and take part in the Boston UK Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday 13th April 2025. The flat route starts at Boston Market Place before finishing at Boston College.
The conditions were hot and humid with a strong headwind. Allen ran the marathon finishing in 3.53.56, 457th out of 853. Rob and Josh ran the half marathon, Rob finishing in 2.17.39, 353rd out of 493 and Josh finishing in 2.29.22, 411th.
