FOUR Haldon Trail Runners took on the 20-mile Grizzly race in East Devon on Sunday with almost 3,000ft of climbing - and one was second in her age category.

Katie McCullagh crossed the finish line in Seaton in 3:11.23, not only putting her 117th overall but also second in the senior female section.

Matt Havard was 221st in 3:26.57, Mike Walkden 350th in 3:42.52 and Mark Harrison was 760th in 4:23.09.

In addition, Cat Matthews dropped down to the nine-mile version, the Cub, after illness and finished in 1:51.16 for 218th place.

Meanwhile, Jake Langdon travelled to North Devon for the Bideford half marathon and, despite having a knee injury, crossed the line 842nd in a time of 2:21.09.

A week earlier, Simon Bunday took part in the Looe 10-mile road race, another testing race with 1,700ft of ascent, albeit in perfect conditions.

From Looe to Talland and back, Simon finished in 1:39.42 for 238th place.
