BOVEY Valley Runners are already hitting the ground running in 2025 with a first race of the new year.

In an ideal opportunity for a Xmas recovery, a group of their members attended the First Chance 10k at Exeter Quay, organised by South West Road Runners.

This is a very popular event at the end of the holiday season with over 600 runners putting themselves at the start line on a damp Sunday morning.

The route is on a nice flat running surface on either side of the River Exe, which gives opportunities for some fast times.

There were some great finishes from BVR with Rob White completing in 51:34 followed closely all the way by Mary Cornish in 51:51, then Nicola Huckerby 1:04:34, Steph Alder 1:08:47, Donna Osborne 1:09:53 and Rebecca Burton 1:18:29.

Happy new year to all from the BVR team!
