GEOFF Warne, who captained Crediton RFC and coached both seniors and juniors at Teignmouth RFC, has a memorial cup in his honour when the two meet.
The latest instalment saw the two cross paths in the league and It was Teignmouth who opened the scoring in the latest instalment though as Billy Colthart crossed for a 0-5 advantage on their travels.
Crediton hit back and took the lead with a converted try, but it didn’t last long as Matt Dowrick added another five points for Teigns.
The game continued to go back and forth, Crediton going ahead and then Mayne kicking for Teignmouth to flip the script once again.
A 10-point gap, at 13-23, was the furthest ahead that Crediton went and a late driving maul, finished off by captain Pete Parsons, gave Teignmouth that losing bonus point, falling 27-28. This was a second of the game for the experienced Parsons.
Scrum-half Dan Force was named as the man of the match for Teigns.
Teignmouth women’s XV were also in action as they hosted Camborne and their defeat was by a much larger margin unfortunately.
Camborne took an early lead away from home with a quick try on the wing and that set them on their way to a 5-63 success.
Teignmouth remained determined throughout and continued to make great defensive tackles and they didn’t walk away empty-handed.
In possession and boasting a knock-on advantage, the hosts spotted an opportunity and took it with 12, James scoring the try. Camborne went on to run in another 20+ points after the fact.
Forward of the match went to 7, Felicity Dunn and back of the match to 15, Kaelyn Avery.
