SOUTH Devon League golf action is back with a trio of fixtures taking place tomorrow (Saturday 13).

Teignmouth GC inflicted a first defeat of the season on Stover and so the league leaders have a weaker grip on top spot now.

First-placed Stover and second-placed Churston will cross paths with fifth-placed Torquay and sixth-placed Dainton respectively in game seven but don’t be fooled by the standings, as the bottom two have a game in hand on the rest of the division.

Little has changed in the table over the last two game-weeks though as every single team won a home fixture and lost an away fixture in that period.

Prior to last week’s victory in the reverse, Teignmouth failed to win a single match on Stover’s new course so the latter’s home advantage will surely be significant once again when Torquay come to town.

Churston, as previously alluded to, are just a point behind Stover and so they are firmly in the hunt for a first title since 1998 after Stover’s recent slip-up.

Home advantage is on the side of Dainton Park for Churston’s upcoming outing and the former will be keen to exact revenge after losing 5.5-1.5 away from home earlier in the season, potentially making this the most fascinating fixture of the weekend.

Lastly, Teignmouth travel to The Warren in one of the more local derbies in this local league, a fixture that was drawn 3.5-3.5 back at the start of June.

All is still to play for up and down the SDL!
