DAINTON Park’s 2025 club captain Gary Runham held his Captains Drive-In on Saturday, February 8 and raised £292 for Children’s Hospice South West in the first of many planned fundraisers for the year.

The money was raised by members entering the “Yardage Raffle” and the winner is the one who selects the exact length of the new captains’ drive off of the first tee.
Gary, using a hickory 2-wood from the 1930s, managed to drive the ball 170 yards down the right-hand side of the fairway. The winner of wine and golf balls was Andrew Wotton who successfully drew the correct number from the hat.
The subsequent competition was an individual Stableford with 146 members taking part in bitterly cold conditions.
Jason Bevan led Division One with 38 points, Chris George won Division Two with the same tally and then Marcus Konetsky was the man to beat in Division Three. 21 twos were recorded on the day.
