ELLA Halfyard plays for Buckland Athletic’s U15s and she has enjoyed a brilliant season, and then some.

Scoring 45 goals in a season is a ridiculous achievement- that is a tally that Vivianne Miedema couldn’t even reach at her peak in an Arsenal shirt. Some teams don’t even score that many in a year!

The icing on the cake for Ella is the Player of the League award which she has deservedly received.

Everyone involved with the team is immensely proud of their goal scoring machine, maybe none more so than manager Ben Williamson.

"Ella Halfyard is quite an inspirational player, she has scored an amazing 45 goals this season, she’s such a natural striker and is a pleasure to manage. Not only does she score goals for fun but works incredibly hard for the team, it is quite rare that players do both!

She has managed to do this whilst having an undiagnosed heart condition, partial sight in one eye and partial deafness in one ear. Ella goes into Bristol hospital later this week for an exploratory operation and the whole club wishes her and her family well.

She deserves the award for her goal-scoring and hard work alone, add in her conditions and it makes it all the more remarkable.”

As Ben alludes to, defying the odds in such circumstances makes her 45 goals and Player of the League award all the more impressive.

The question that now arises is, can Ella surpass that number next season?
